Who we are - a brief history
Ian and Diane Harrison-Robshaw gave their lives to Jesus at St. Peter's Church, Toton near Nottingham in November 1995 They soon found that their ministry was to be with young people and were encouraged to became joint leaders of the Toton Churches Youth Club.
In September 1996 St. Peter's held it's first Alpha Course together with the Toton Methodist Church with whom the had a Covenant and all members were encourage to attend. For Ian it marked a turning point in his life.
Following the success of this first Alpha, they were both asked to lead a 'Junior Alpha' which was scheduled for the following January. Because there were no Junior Alpha videos available at the time they adapted the material that was available and shared the 'Away Day' with the adults. This turned out to be a great success.
At this time they were praying for direction in their lives and they clearly felt that God was calling them to live and work in Menorca. After much prayer and Godly council over the ensuing months, and after a very emotional service at St. Peter's on 22nd February, they said their goodbyes.
It was to be another 2 years before they were able to run another Alpha Course. This was to be the first Alpha in Menorca and Ian and Diane were assisted by a retired Army Chaplain and his wife from the Anglican Church. The ten week course was held at the Spanish Evangelical Church and attracted members from the Anglican, Evangelical and Roman Catholic Churches, making it a truly ecumenical event.
